Adelwöhrerhof is a Green Care farm which combines the social, agricultural, health and education sectors and tries to strengthen the general wellbeing and the health of people. Green Care includes all activities that use agricultural resources, both from plants and animals, to promote (or to generate) therapy, rehabilitation, social inclusion, education and social services in rural areas. It is related to farm activities where groups of people can stay and work together with family farmers and social practitioners.
The Adelwöhrerhof is a barrier-free organic farm with 14 care places for people in need of care and people with special needs. Due to the small number of 14 care places, it is possible to address specific needs and wishes of the residents. For the Steiner family and the eleven employees, the human component in care and support is important in addition to professional know-how, so that all residents of the farm enjoy a high degree of quality of life. Also children and adolescents, as well as people with special needs, can experience life on the farm with various animal species such as cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and horses. At the green care-certified farm, they can -individually or in groups - discover and develop their skills and abilities, such as empathy, courage, self- esteem and creativity, with specially trained animals.
